In Russia, a 33-year-old woman from Los Angeles is currently detained on charges of treason after allegedly donating around $51 to a Ukrainian charity. The woman, a dual U.S. citizen, traveled to Russia on January 2nd to visit her family and was promptly taken into custody by Russian authorities. She was later released but arrested again this month.
According to Russian officials, the woman is suspected of actively collecting funds for Ukrainian organizations since February 2022. The money allegedly purchased various items, including medicine, equipment, weapons, and ammunition for the Ukrainian armed forces. Additionally, she is accused of participating in pro-Ukrainian rallies in the United States.
