American tech firm creating jobs in North East after picking Newcastle for European HQ

Hundreds of jobs are set to be created in Newcastle after an American cyber security firm announced it would open its European headquarters in the city.

Arctic Wolf, an American firm which has been valued at more than $4bn, will initially create 30 new jobs with the opening of its Europe, the Middle East and Africa (EMEA) headquarters in Newcastle. It hopes to increase that number of job into the hundreds over the next three years.

Political leaders in the city have welcomed the announcement, which is the latest in a string of overseas firms attracted to Newcastle in recent months, following similar announcements from payment firm XPlor and digital consultancy Monstarlab.
