An American soldier, identified as a staff sergeant, was detained in Russia last week on suspicion of theft. According to two US officials, the soldier is currently being held in pre-trial detention after being arrested on May 2 by Russian authorities.
The soldier, who was stationed in South Korea, reportedly traveled to Russia voluntarily. The US Embassy in Moscow is actively seeking consular access to the soldier and has notified his family of his detention.
