Global burger chain Wendys is hoping to set up in Ireland under new investment plans.
The restaurant, best known for its made to order square hamburgers, reentered the UK market in 2021 after a twenty year hiatus. Wendy’s currently has 25 restaurants open throughout the UK but is hoping to accelerate its operations across wider Europe.
The company is currently seeking established franchisees to help them set up an Irish base. Ideal candidates will have a proven track recording of growing brands here in Ireland and local development expertise.
Abigail Pringle, Wendy’s international president and chief development officer, said: “As we continue to expand our international footprint, we are focused on building long-term relationships with franchisees in Ireland who want to grow with us, share our values and reflect the communities in which we operate.”
The Irish Mirror previously reported that Wendy’s was set to enter both the Irish and UK market at some point earlier in 2022 but these plans did not come to fruition here. The company reportedly had a guiding vision of becoming the most beloved restaurant brand across the world.
The menu for Wendy’s consists of comfort food such as hamburgers, chicken sandwiches, sea salt fries and its classic Frosty dessert, which is a softer, less dense form of ice-cream.
The U.S. company is headquartered in Dublin, Ohio and was first established in 1969.
