American golfer Nelly Korda has announced her withdrawal from an upcoming tournament on Friday due to a dog bite incident that occurred in Seattle. Korda expressed her regret on her Instagram story, stating that she needs time to receive treatment and fully recover from the incident. As a result, she will not be participating in the Ladies European Tour tournament in London scheduled from June 28-30.
Despite starting the season strongly with a remarkable achievement of winning five consecutive LPGA Tour titles, Korda has faced a series of setbacks in recent tournaments. Her performance took a downturn, leading to her failure to make the cut in her last three competitions. Notably, at the KPMG Women’s PGA Championship, Korda shot a career-worst 81 in the second round, resulting in her missing the cut.
Reflecting on her recent struggles, Korda expressed her frustration to reporters, acknowledging the challenges she has been facing on the golf course. She emphasized the need to reset and regain her form after experiencing a reversal of fortune following her successful start to the year.
In light of her withdrawal from the upcoming tournament and the need for recovery from the dog bite incident, Korda extended her apologies to fans and tournament organizers for her absence. She thanked everyone for their understanding and expressed her anticipation of returning to competitive play once she has fully recuperated.
