In an exciting development in the world of film, America Ferrera is set to make her directorial debut with 'I Am Not Your Perfect Mexican Daughter.' Based on Erika Sánchez's critically acclaimed novel, this highly anticipated project is currently in development at Amazon MGM Studios' Orion Pictures.
Initially set up at Netflix, the film has now found a new home with Amazon MGM Studios. 'Flamin' Hot' screenwriter Linda Yvette Chávez has penned the script, which follows the story of Julia Reyes, a teenager living in Chicago with dreams of becoming a famous writer. Julia yearns to escape the confines of her traditional Mexican immigrant parents and their expectations for her to be more like her seemingly perfect sister, Olga, who tragically passed away.
