September 25 is taking on a new meaning across the US as communities mark Dolly Parton Day, with the date itself providing the most fitting tribute of all: 9/25 mirrors the title of Parton's iconic '9 to 5'.

California made September 25 an official state observance after Governor Gavin Newsom signed SB 931 on September 20. Nashville is also proclaiming September 25 as Dolly Day, while Seattle and Portland have announced their own city observances.
