An ambulance which departed from Errol in Perthshire to help the injured in Ukraine has arrived safely.
The gift - which will undoubtedly see heavy use in its new location in a war zone - was from Knockhill Race Circuit in Fife.
It was briefly kept at Errol Car Auctions where Tayside and Strathearn Help for Ukraine (TASH Ukraine) has a base provided by Morris Leslie.
The Polish Consul General for the Republic of Poland in Edinburgh, Lukasz Lutostanski, handed over a letter of thanks to the people of Tayside for the wonderful gift of the ambulance which he said would be put to good use.
The letter also gave thanks for the over 200 tons of food, clothing and other goods that have been sent from the Morris Leslie warehouse by volunteers and sorted into pallets, loaded onto lorries and sent to Ukraine via Poland.
The fully kitted-out ambulance was driven away by Polish fire fighter Robert Pielacha, who volunteered to drive the vehicle on its long journey east.
TASH Ukraine’s Kenny Simpson confirmed on Wednesday that it had arrived without a hitch.
Back at the warehouse, TASH Ukraine campaign co-ordinator Kenny Simpson and his army of wonderful volunteers got on with the meticulous process of sorting, packing and loading aid to help Ukrainian people suffering from the invasion and its consequences.
Since the ambulance departed, two more vans and two more lorries have gone to Poland.
Kenny said: “The generosity of the Scottish people is well known and the 12 lorries plus we have sent shows this and will not be forgotten.
“On behalf of the people of Ukraine and Poland, Mr Lutostanski, thanks us from the bottom of his heart.”
Earlier this week, MP for Perth and North Perthshire, Pete Wishart added his recognition of local kindness.
He told the PA: “I have been astounded by the response from the people of Perthshire to the crisis in Ukraine.
“From Blairgowrie to Aberfeldy, from Crieff to Coupar Angus, to the streets of Perth, the people of Perthshire have gathered to support the Ukrainian people in their time of need.
“In the face of the unspeakable evil of Putin and his army, these acts of kindness and generosity by the Perthshire community are a welcome reminder of what humanity really is.”
