Amber Heard has blasted the rumours she was being cut from the Aquaman sequel after the Johnny Depp verdict.

The actress, 36, was set to reprise her role as Aquaman’s love interest Mera in the new movie Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom.

However, it was claimed her part had been recast with the replacement already doing reshoots with lead actor Jason Momoa and Nicole Kidman.

Heard’s spokesperson shutdown the speculation saying it was “inaccurate, insensitive and slightly insane”.

A spokesperson for Heard denied the report in a statement to Variety: “The rumour mill continues as it has from day one – inaccurate, insensitive and slightly insane.”

Later, a source close to production told Just Jared who had initially run the story: “Amber has not been completely cut from the film. She still has a small role.”

Heard took centre stage in the role of her character Mera in Aquaman as well as making appearances in Justice League and Zack Snyder’s Justice League.

It comes just weeks after Johnny Depp has won his multimillion-dollar US lawsuit against ex-wife Heard when a jury ruled her 2018 article in the Washington Post was defamatory.

Depp had sued the Aquaman star for 50 million US dollars over the piece titled: “I spoke up against sexual violence — and faced our culture’s wrath. That has to change.”

The article does not mention Depp by name but his lawyers said it falsely implies he physically and sexually abused Heard while they were together.

As a result, Depp has been awarded compensatory damages of 10 million dollars (£8 million) and a further 5 million dollars (£4 million) in punitive damages.

Also the jury found in favour of Heard who said she was defamed by Depp’s lawyer when he called her abuse allegations a hoax.

Heard will receive $2 million out of the $100million she was seeking in her countersuit against the star.
