NEW DELHI: Former Indian batter Ambati Rayudu has showered praise on Chennai Super Kings (CSK) skipper MS Dhoni, acknowledging his role in bringing out the best in players, both Indian and foreign, during his illustrious career.
Speaking on BeerBiceps' podcast on YouTube, Rayudu highlighted Dhoni's ability to mentor and hone talents, emphasising that the match results often validate the former India skipper's decisions on the field.
Rayudu stated, "I mean, everybody knows that he has brought the best out of the best in so many players and across formats, even he has brought out the best in many foreigners that have played for CSK."
The 38-year-old acknowledged that while there were instances where he questioned Dhoni's decisions, the consistent success rate demonstrated by the CSK skipper over the years speaks for itself. Rayudu noted that Dhoni's decisions are right "99.9 percent of the time."
Reflecting on Dhoni's leadership style, Rayudu described him as a subtle communicator, stating, "He will tell them subtly that this is what is expected."
The former India batter emphasised that Dhoni's success, especially with CSK in the IPL, has solidified his position as a leader, making it challenging for anyone in Indian cricket to question his decisions.
In the IPL 2023, MS Dhoni led CSK to clinch their fifth IPL title, an impressive feat that showcased the skipper's enduring leadership qualities. The final saw CSK secure a thrilling five-wicket victory over Gujarat Titans.
