Amazon shoppers managing to keep heating off thanks to £11 tape

Amazon shoppers are praising a "perfect" £11 tape which is helping them avoid putting on the heating.

The self-adhesive tape is being snapped up quickly thanks to its use as a draught excluder. Many shoppers have already purchased the fowong self-adhesive seal tape which is designed as an insulation tape and draught excluder. The weatherstrip tape can be used around doors and windows, or anywhere where there is cold air coming into the home.

Coming in three sizes the grey tape has received an influx of praise from Amazon shoppers, with many claiming the tape is helping them save money on energy bills as they don't feel the need to turn on the heating at home.

One Amazon shopper said the tape is very easy to apply and is of good quality. She said: "One strip went around the front door. Genuinely chuffed with my little idea that worked out!

"Thick brush thing has made the door feel more secure, quiet to close and completely blocked the draft. Best purchase of the year. Almost got a new door instead. I used a spoon to get the underneath right under, and the heating stays off a good bit longer now."

The tape comes in three sizes, 9x5mm, 9x9mm or 9x15mm and varies in price depending on the measurements chosen. The 9x9mm is £11.89, where as the smallest size is £10.59. Described as a "small investment" the tape can be used on windows and doors to improve energy efficiency by sealing gaps and leaks, which allow outside air to enter, and inside conditioned air to escape.

One shopper has actually purchased the tape three times. They said: "I have ended up buying this product three times due to how well it worked, put it around nearly all of the windows and doors in my house and definitely have noticed the warm staying in the house and also noise reduction from outside as an added bonus. Was pretty sceptical but for the cheap price worth it."

The tape is described as "simple" to apply with a peel and stick application which is designed to simplify weather-sealing projects with a sealed perimeter around windows and doors. One shopper said this type of tape was better than previous ones.

He said: "I previously used a foam version on front door but it is constantly became unstuck in one part. I choose this instead and it was quick and easy to install; measure, cut, peel, and stick." Another said: "This was an easy and relatively inexpensive way to deal with a draughty and badly fitting door. Instant results."

The tape is made from a brush deal weather strip which is constructed of a woven brown pile material featuring a self-adhesive backing. It may come in handy to shoppers who have draughty windows and doors at home and can't afford to get them replaced.

One Amazon buyer added: "Like many folk, in these days of off the scale gas and electricity costs I am taking steps to minimise heating costs by reducing draughts around the house.

"I have tried and been disappointed with various types of draught excluder in the past and purchased this one thinking that it too would probably disappoint. How wrong I was.

"This product is excellent. Easy to apply and effective once in place. Comes in two thicknesses. I measured before ordering and decided the thinner option was the one I needed, but its good to know that there is a thicker version available should the need arise. Would certainly use again and recommend." You can buy the tape from Amazon here.
