Not content to wait until Black Friday, Amazon’s second Prime Day shopping event will take place on Oct. 10 and 11.
The company has dated the previously announced two-day event, called Prime Big Deal Days, as well as given some advance looks at some of the deals it plans to offer. The sale will kick off at 3:00 am. ET on the 10th.
To kickstart buyer interest, Amazon is already offering incentives. Prime members who download the Amazon Photos app and upload a picture will receive a $15 credit. The site is also offering a free four-month trial to Amazon Music to anyone who hasn’t tried it yet. And people who have an Amazon credit card can earn up to 10% back on select Amazon devices.
As usual, Amazon has put several of its own devices, including the eero Pro Mesh Wi-Fi system on sale early.
This is the second time Amazon has held an October shopping event, giving people a headstart on the holidays. And the company plans to once again give people an equal chance at some of the big deals.
As with July’s Prime Day, Prime members will be able to request an invitation to buy the big deals right up until the start of the event. If they’re among the lucky ones, they’ll be notified during Prime Bid Deal Day with instructions on how to purchase the item. And they won’t have to frantically click. They’ll have until the end of the day to redeem the offer.
Among the invitation-based deals are a Sony Dolby Atmos soundbar for 50% off and a three-camera Blink outdoor security system at a 60% discount.
Walmart and Target, in 2022, offered competing retail events, but as yet have not announced plans for big sales next month.
