Amazon founder Jeff Bezos linked to buying stake in Liverpool

  • Liverpool owners Fenway Sports Group (FSG) have confirmed that a consortium led by British-Indian millionaire Amit Bhatia is in discussions regarding a potential minority investment in the football club.
  • Reports indicate that Amazon founder Jeff Bezos, with an estimated fortune of $257bn, has held discussions with Bhatia's consortium concerning this investment, though these talks are still at an early stage.
  • Amit Bhatia, a former co-owner of QPR and son-in-law of billionaire Lakshimi Mittal, confirmed his departure from QPR's board on the same day FSG acknowledged the investment interest.
  • FSG stated that Bhatia's consortium has expressed interest in making a 'strategic minority investment' in Liverpool Football Club.
  • This potential investment follows FSG's sale of a minority stake in Liverpool to investment firm Dynasty in 2023, which provided an injection of cash but was not earmarked for future player transfers.
