Amazon has become the latest US tech company expected to announce job cuts in the coming days.
The online retailer, which employs around 5,000 people in Ireland, is expected to cut 10,000 jobs worldwide in the corporate and technology sectors. It employs around 1.6 million people across the world.
There were 500 new roles created in Ireland this year by the company as it opened a new warehouse in Baldonnel. The fulfillment warehouse is the first to have been opened in Ireland and joins a number of data centres in the capital.
