A grieving widow has tragically lost her husband of fifteen years after he suddenly died. Katie Ford describes Ryan as an 'amazing husband and dad'.
The 35-year-old was sadly taken away from her and their three children when he unexpectedly died of kidney failure on Sunday, May 7. Just seven weeks before his death Ryan was diagnosed with a kidney disease.
The family had just moved into their dream home but Ryan never even got to see it. Katie says they'd just spent money on decorating the three-bedroom house and now won't be able to afford a funeral.
The family has created a GoFundMe page to help raise funds for the funeral so the children can 'say one final goodbye to the man they all looked up to.' Speaking to Birmingham Live, Katie said: "It's a massive loss to us as a family.
"We'd just moved into our new three-bed house which was perfect - but Ryan never even got to see it. He was such an amazing person and dad. He made such a big impact on everyone he met - he treated everyone like family.
"It's very emotional - children have their good days and bad days but they aren't coping very well. Our youngest especially is finding it hard to come to terms with.
"We haven't got any money for a funeral right now because we've just moved house and we’ve spent money decorating. This was meant to be the start of a new chapter for us - we're calling on the public to help us give Ryan the send-off he deserves."
Katie said the family were waiting for a post-mortem to reveal the exact cause of Ryan's death. The family have so far raised just over £200 of their £2,000 target.
