An "amazing" dad died hours after joking around with his family.
Sam Mercer, 35, snapped his femur in December and on Valentine's Day (February 14) he had surgery to fix the problem. He had been recuperating at his home in Crosby when he died suddenly on Sunday, February 19.
His brother Tom said Sam was "recovering well" before getting a call on Sunday evening to find out was being taken to hospital. By the time Tom arrived at Sam's house, he had already died.
