Newcastle United Women are set to make history once again at St James' Park after more than 25,000 tickets were sold for this weekend's FA Cup tie against Barnsley.
The Lady Magpies, as a result, will be backed by an even bigger following than when they set a record for the largest crowd for a women's league match in England last season in their first ever game at St James'. More than 22,000 fans cheered on Becky Langley's side during that 4-0 win against Alnwick Town Ladies - kick-off even had to be delayed because of the queues outside - but Sunday's game will see a new record attendance set for a women's match at St James'.
With three days to go until the FA Cup second-round tie, there is still time for ticket sales to edge towards the 30,000 mark. However, to put the amount already sold into perspective, there will be more supporters in attendance than there were for Fulham's game against Manchester United at Craven Cottage in the final game before the World Cup break in the men's Premier League.

Sunday's fixture promises to be another special occasion for Newcastle Women, who were brought back into the heart of the club following the takeover last year, and part-owner Amanda Staveley's wish to host a second game at St James' has been shared by tens of thousands of supporters.
"The way to do it is to engage with the community because I think you'll find all of our football communities are just so passionate that if they're given the chance to support women, they will do it," Staveley previously said. "I also think as stakeholders and owners we have to give that chance for everybody to come in and see it.
"We have to put our young teams, our under-23s, in our stadiums about twice a year and the idea is to give them a chance. I said, 'Actually, I'd like the women's team to get the same opportunity. Why can't we make it part of the new rules to say let's have our women's playing in the main pitch?"
Tickets for Sunday's game against Barnsley are priced at £3 for adults and £1 for concessions when purchased in advance. They will also be available on the gate, but match day sales are £6 for adults and £2 for concessions. You can book your tickets here.
