Amanda Holden has taken a swipe at Phillip Schofield as queue drama continues to surround the presenters of This Morning. The jibe comes amid ongoing conflict between the radio star and Phillip.
Holly Willoughby and Phil are embroiled in a controversy about supposedly jumping the queue to see the Queen lying-in-state. However, the two denied the claim, explaining they had been there as members of the media.
Now Amanda has weighed in on the debacle. In her show on Instagram today, the dig occurred when David Beckham - who waited over 13 hours to pay respects to the Queen - came up in conversation.
"So David Beckham has landed a seven-figure deal with Qatar’s World Cup sponsor, Doritos. I love Doritos. I’d love a seven-figure deal," quipped the former Pussycat Dolls singer, the Mirror reports.
Amanda quickly replied: "Get in line. Well, I mean he did get in line. Good on him." To which Ashley responded: "Well, yes he did for like 14 hours," all while Amanda jokes "good on him" before pulling a playful face, laughing to herself.
The somewhat subtle jibe comes amid an ongoing feud between herself and This Morning's Phillip. Only a few years ago, Amanda confirmed her differences with Schofield after she was convinced he had her axed from This Morning.
She was scheduled to stand in for Holly while she was hosting I'm a Celebrity...Get Me Out of Here! in 2018, but the offer was withdrawn at the last minute. The job was instead given to former girl band star Rochelle Humes.
It comes after news that Holly feels 'reassured' by her bosses at ITV despite false claims she was "hung out to dry" by producers at This Morning. A telly insider claimed Holly and Phil were left 'distraught' by the ongoing 'queue-jumping controversy'.
Dismissing claims Holly would quit her job over the matter, a TV source said: "The abuse has been nothing short of disgusting."
"There is huge, real and serious concerns over their wellbeing and ITV are fully supporting them behind the scenes in the face of such relentless trolling," they told The Sun. "The channel backs them 110 per cent."
Sources say that Holly and Phill have felt reassured by ITV's stance, and dismissed rumours that Holly could even quit the show, or that her job was in peril.
The source added: "She adores her job and would never quit. The whole experience has been totally brutal but one thing has remained constant, and that’s been ITV’s unwavering support."
On Tuesday the pair said on the show they would "never jump a queue" after they appeared inside Westminster Hall on Friday without taking part in the public line.
