Amanda Holden slams Holly Willoughby feud claims as 'utter rubbish' in defiant Instagram statement

Amanda Holden has branded reports of a feud between herself as Holly Willoughby as 'utter rubbish' and accused people of 'feasting' on huge assumptions about the two presenters.

Amanda, a former guest host on This Morning, drew attention to herself earlier this week, when Instagram users thought she was making a very deliberate dig at Holly, after the ITV star returned to host This Morning for the first time in over two weeks and in the aftermath of the scandal surrounding Phillip Schofield.

Holly opened her first show back in charge by asking viewers at home "Are you OK?" the same line that Amanda then uttered on an Instagram video, in which, like Holly, she wore a white dress. Amanda has since told fans that the video was taken 'out of context' but, on Thursday, The Sun reported that the two stars have been embroiled in a 'toxic feud' for years.

An insider claimed: "They’ve been pitted against each other for certain big jobs, so there’s a competitive element which doesn’t lend itself to a friendship.

“Both are highly ambitious but there are many traits in their personalities and their behaviour within the industry that secretly gripe one another. The Schofield drama has just brought their rivalry to the fore and Amanda, in particular, couldn’t resist making it public."

Amanda has been left furious by the claims made by The Sun and took to Instagram to brand them 'utter rubbish,' writing: "Sadly, strong and intelligent women have far too long been pitted against each other when we should all be celebrated in our own right."

She added: "The 'rift' story now circulating as a result of the article - which I have woken up to this morning and was not checked for factual correctness - simply does not exist. There have been some huge assumptions made this week and everyone has feasted on them."

Britain's Got Talent judge Amanda ended her Insta post by writing: "We are becoming a world which is gradually being eroded of all the best qualities...humour, backbone and truth."
