Britain’s Got Talent panel member Amanda Holden has claimed Phillip Schofield brutally snubbed her attempt to make up after the pair fell out. The 52-year-old reportedly fell out with Phil after she had a stint co-presenting This Morning with him when Holly Willoughby was in Australia with I’m a Celebrity... get me out of here!
According to reports Phil vetoed her getting a role full time, instead preferring Rochelle Humes. Now on her Heart Breakfast show Amanda said she extended an olive branch by asking to meet him for a coffee – and then revealed he “didn’t reply” – in 2019.
Phillip Schofield dramatically quit from This Morning last weekend after reports of a rift with co-host Holly. Amanda also took the time to back Dermot O’Leary to replace him. Alison Hammond and O’Leary, who celebrated his 50th birthday on Wednesday, stepped in to present This Morning on Monday and Tuesday, while Craig Doyle took the helm with Hammond on Wednesday.
Appearing on her Heart Breakfast show, co-host Jamie Theakston asked if she thinks O’Leary would be “good to replace” Schofield. The 52-year-old said: “Yes. I think him and Alison do a great job, don’t they?”
Schofield, 61, stepped down from the ITV talk show on Saturday after more than 20 years amid reports of a fallout with co-presenter Holly Willoughby – and after his brother, Timothy Schofield, was jailed for 12 years for child sex offences.
Amanda previously took aim at Phil over the Queen lying-in-state queue row last year. “So David Beckham has landed a seven-figure deal with Qatar’s World Cup sponsor, Doritos. I love Doritos. I’d love a seven-figure deal,” Ashley Roberts said.
“Get in line. Well, I mean he did get in line. Good on him,” Amanda then sniped. Ashley then cheekily said: “Well, yes he did for like 14 hours.”
This Morning continues to air each weekday from 10am on ITV.
