The Hairspray star shared her exciting news with her fans on Instagram as she embarks upon her new career path.

Retired actress, Amanda, 36, gleefully shared videos of her new classroom and fellow students with her followers on the social media app as she revealed her plans to become a talented nail artist.

Amanda is no stranger to embracing her more artistic side - she has already completed an associate's degree at the Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandising in 2019.

She then continued to study towards a bachelor's degree at the college sharing the news with her fans via a chat with E! News.

She said: "I'm majoring in creative industry studies with a core in beauty marketing and product development,' the SoCal native told in April.

"I am travelling to New York in June to work on developing a fragrance which will be ready to launch near the holidays."

The star has been enjoying her new found freedom since her nine-year legal conservatorship ended seven months ago.

Ventura County Superior Court Judge Roger L. Lund ended the control granted to her mother Lynn in March following her efforts to rebuild her life after a series of catastrophes led to several brushes with the law, including a drink-driving arrest in 2012 and a marijuana possession charge in 2013.

After the hearing, Amanda's lawyer said the star has made "significant progress" in recent years in her battle with sobriety and bipolar disorder.

Amanda met her former fiancé Paul Michael in 2019 when they resided at the same sober living facility as they battled to regain control of their lives.

The couple have an on/off relationship with reports suggesting they had put their wedding planning on hold for the time being in July.

ET reported at the time that they were "still together as a couple, but they have put a pause on their engagement and wedding planning,” although they are now thought to have split up.

After working in healthcare for 10 years, Paul, 31, is also studying towards a better life and is currently a law student.

Earlier this year the couple released her rap single - titled Fairfax - produced by Yung Yogi.

Amanda - who appeared in hit movies including Easy A, She's the Man, Hairspray, and What a Girl Wants - has a reported net worth of $6million.
