Manchester United starlet Amad appears to have hit out at the decision to name Bristol City 's Alex Scott the Championship's Young Player of the Season.
The EFL held its annual awards night on Sunday, with Amad going up against Scott in the Young Player category. Amad is currently on loan at Sunderland and has impressed for the Black Cats in their play-off challenge.
The winger has scored 12 goals and notched three assists in 35 appearances in the second tier this campaign. That has helped Sunderland to occupy the final play-off spot in what is their first season back in the Championship, with two games remaining.
But that was not enough for the United loanee to beat Scott at the EFL Awards night. Bristol city sit a lowly 14th in the table. But Scott has impressed hugely from midfield, making 40 league appearances, scoring one goal and notching five assists.
Amad though did not appear to be pleased for his rival as he scooped the win, posting a cryptic message on Twitter. He wrote: "Youg [sic] player, who?" alongside two laughing emojis.
Scott is one year younger than Amad, though has already made 81 senior appearances over the course of his fledging career. And the Robins star paid tribute to those at Ashton Gate to have helped him since he broke into the team.
HAVE YOUR SAY! Would Alex Scott be a good signing for Manchester United? Comment below.
"I think I have had to grow up a lot. Everyone at the Club help to keep you grounded; my teammates are big on that aswell so I have a lot of people to thank. I owe a lot to the Club," he said.
"I have been there three years now coming over as a young 16 year old and now I’m playing every week in the Championship so I owe a lot to them and I am grateful for it."
Scott also earned a place in the Championship Team of the Season, though Amad failed to make the cut. The duo could end up playing on the same side next season under Erik ten Hag at Old Trafford.
Amad is expected to be given the chance to earn a place in United's first-team next year following his impressive spell at Sunderland. Scott could follow him to the Red Devils, as a number of teams circle ahead of the summer transfer window.
Liverpool, West Ham and Wolves have all scouted the Englishman, while The Sun reported last summer that United were interested in him. And following such an impressive campaign, that interest could be ramped back up.
The Robins are in a strong negotiating position though, with Scott still having another two years to run on his contract. But if United do follow through, Amad may have to bury his grievances about the Young Player award.
