Amad Diallo backed to replace Manchester United duo after Sunderland loan

Former Manchester United striker Andy Cole believes Amad Diallo could be the man to replace Anthony Martial and Jadon Sancho at Old Trafford. The ex-Sunderland loanee was among the standout performers in the Championship during his time on Wearside.

He scored 14 times in a red and white shirt and notched four assists as the Wearsiders secured a top-six finish. Diallo's impressive performances at the Black Cats has seen a number of Premier League sides register their interest in his services for next season, while Dutch champions Feyenoord are also understood to be keen on a loan move for his services.

Reports last month suggested the Ivorian international could return to the Stadium of Light, if Tony Mowbray remains at the helm. However, the general consensus at Old Trafford remains that Diallo will be given an opportunity to impress Erik Ten Hag in pre-season before a decision is made on his future.

Cole was speaking on behalf of BoyleSports about Champions League Winner Odds, he said: "Amad Diallo could be the player to replace Anthony Martial or Jadon Sancho. He's had a fantastic loan at Sunderland and Tony Mowbray has sung his praises.

"Diallo looks like a good kid too and I hope he can have an impact at Manchester United. This loan period has worked out really well and now he has the opportunity to compete with players like Sancho and Martial from the bench."
