Bleacher Report’s Gary Davenport picked New Orleans Saints running back Alvin Kamara as the team’s biggest fantasy football value. This does not mean Davenport believes Kamara to be the best fantasy option in New Orleans, but rather the best investment given where he’s being drafted.
Think of this as a “bang for your buck” type of list. Using the average draft position metric, Davenport filled the list with players who will give you great production for where they may be drafted. Kamara was the 17th-drafted running back by that metric, and Davenport feels Kamara could outperform that:
Frankly, there isn’t a ton of value to be had with the fantasy options in New Orleans this year. But if Kamara can rebound from a rocky 2023, he has the potential to post another top-10 RB finish. Even in that “down” season a year ago, Kamara topped 1,100 yards from scrimmage, caught 75 passes and finished 12th among all running backs in PPR points.
Look around the league at the success running backs are having in wide zone offenses. Even entering Year 8, this should benefit Kamara. There’s one other big caveat around his success. The Saints remodeled offensive line has to be better than last year.
Kamara’s best ability is his versatility. Ironically, that’s also his greatest asset in fantasy football. As long as Kamara is able to catch the ball effectively, he will continue to be a valuable player in points per reception leagues. That is the most likely reason Davenport picked Kamara as the best fantasy football value player on the Saints.
