A theme park visitor has described the moment people 'screamed' as a rollercoaster stopped mid-tracks after a person fell ill on the ride.
The guest became unwell while riding the Galactica roller coaster at Alton Towers in Staffordshire on Thursday.
A woman from Manchester who witnessed the incident said the ride was stopped as medics rushed to help, Manchester Evening News reports.
She described hearing onlookers around the ride 'screaming'. She said: "The people witnessing around the ride were getting distressed by the screaming, and some kids were even crying because it was scary."
A spokesperson for Alton Towers confirmed that the incident was not related to the safety of the ride.
The person who fell ill 'required assistance' and was helped by medics, the spokesperson added.
The theme park has spoken with their family 'to wish them a speedy recovery'.
In a statement, the Alton Towers spokesperson said: "Medical assistance arrived on site to help with a guest who fell ill during their visit and required assistance.
"The safety and wellbeing of our guests is always our top priority and we have spoken with the family to wish the guest a speedy recovery.
"This was in no way related to the safety of our rides and attractions."
Back in 2020 The Mirror reported on an Alton Parks closure as guests complained of irritation to their eyes and throats after visiting a water park in Staffordshire.
Alton Towers closed the water attraction Splash Landings for several days after 33 adults and six children reported feeling unwell.
Mum Sammi Bristow was visiting the water park on Monday, March 2, with her ex partner, Joe, and their son, Kye, to celebrate the toddler's second birthday.
But what was supposed to be a fun family day out ended abruptly when Ms Bristow and other guests fell ill.
The then 31-year-old said she was left feeling as though she was "swallowing fire " and could smell a chemical stench in the air.
