Students were left bitterly disappointed after their secondary school failed to book a coach to take them to Alton Towers - leaving them stranded at 4am.
The group of Year 9 students and their teachers from Newquay Tretherras were left waiting for a coach that never turned up for the simple reason that the school mistook a quote for a confirmed booking, reports Cornwall Live.
One of the pupils' grandmothers told our sister paper Cornwall Live that her grandchild had been stuck outside the school at 4am. It turned out that she got the wrong end of the stick and if the coach company did not turn up it was not because they made a mistake and should be 'named and shamed' - but it turns out they were never booked in the first place.

The trip had been due to take place on Monday (June 20) with the students expected to travel to the huge theme park and resort complex in Staffordshire known for its thrill rides and rollercoasters, in the early hours. Newquay Tretherras apologised for the blunder saying it had been an 'administrative error' and insisted no children were ever left unattended and all were picked safely up by parents or were accompanied home by staff members.
The largest school in Cornwall said the trip to Alton Towers has now been rescheduled to July. A spokesman for Newquay Tretherras said: "Due to an administrative error the scheduled Alton Towers rewards trip did not go ahead. However, we are pleased to announce that it has been rescheduled for July 16."
A spokesman for Hopley's Coaches, which is based at Mount Hawke, said the school trip howler had nothing to do with them despite what some people had been quick to infer. He added: "The school had not received any confirmation from us regarding this trip, only a quote. So saying that we didn't turn up and left children and teachers stranded is incorrect."
The school spokesman added: "Our relationship with both transport and Alton Towers remains positive. At no point were students left unattended and all were either collected or were escorted safely back to their homes. We thank the parents for their understanding and support in this matter."
