ALMOST half of Scotland’s local authorities planning departments don’t have in-house ecological expertise, with campaigners claiming “skimping” on experts is “gambling” on communities' futures.
Figures from freedom of information requests by the coalition group Scottish Environment LINK and published in a new Nature Protection Scorecard indicate that four out of 10 planning departments in Scotland’s 32 councils have no ecological experts.
