Almost half a million people watched the final episode of Kin, The Irish Mirror can reveal.
Figures released by RTE show that an average 495,500 tuned in for the season finale of the RTE One crime drama, which left viewers shocked.
A spokesman for the national broadcaster said: "An average audience of almost half a million (495,500) watched last night’s KIN season 2 finale on RTÉ One (inc RTÉ One+1), with 37 per cent of the available audience.
"On RTÉ Player, KIN series 2 has a massive 1,600,000 streams to date. Season 1 boxset in 2023 currently has 331,000 streams. Last night's final episode has garnered 25,500 so far. With current trends, we expect catch up viewing on TV and RTÉ Player to grow substantially across the week."

The show has attracted hundreds of thousands of viewers on RTE One every Sunday night for the last few weeks as vicious family patriarch Bren wreaked havoc after being released from prison.
The character, played by Francis Magee, divided viewers with some arguing he made the show while others wished for his demise.
The Kinsella family feud came to a head in the final episode with multiple deaths and fans were in total shock. The episode also teed up a third season with gardaí closing in on Amanda's money-laundering operations.
Elsewhere, RTE revealed an average 379,000 tuned into The Late Late Show, while Angela Scanlon’s Ask Me Anything saw an average of 216,000 tune in - a drop-off of 15,00 compared to the previous Saturday night.
A spokesman for RTE said: "Angela Scanlon's Ask Me Anything on May 6th had an average audience of 216,000 Live + Vosdal (RTÉ One and RTÉ One+1) 23 per cent audience share.
"Friday night’s Late Late Show was watched by an average audience of 379,000 on RTÉ One (incl. RTÉ One+1). It was watched by 40 per cent of the available audience.
"On RTÉ Player, Friday's episode has generated almost 23,200 streams so far. The current series from September onwards has 1,123,000 streams to date."
