Almiron gets lucky and Staveley's full-time gesture - Newcastle moments you may have missed

Newcastle United are now looking up the table rather than down after notching their sixth home win on the spin at the expense of Crystal Palace. Miguel Almiron's first-half goal was all it took for the Magpies to leapfrog the Eagles into 11th place.

The Paraguayan found the net for the first time in over a year at club level to make it six home wins on the spin for Eddie Howe's side. The Toon boss is now the first Newcastle manager to achieve that feat since Sir Bobby Robson in 2004.

Here are the moments you may have missed from the win over Crystal Palace.

Almiron gets lucky

Almiron opened the scoring in the 32nd minute, finding the net with a stunning effort in front of the Leazes End. The attacker latched on to a Bruno Guimaraes through ball, controlling it with his head while fighting off Tyrick Mitchell.

His curling shot beat Vicente Guaita in the Palace goal to send St. James' Park wild. Almiron joined in with the celebrations by proceeding to take his shirt off AND jump into the East Stand to enjoy the moment with fans, earning himself a yellow card in the process.

But the goalscorer could have picked up another booking just seconds earlier due to his scrap with Wilfried Zaha before the goal. Almiron and the Palace attacker were involved in a minor scuffle together after the Newcastle man shoved his counterpart in the back unprovoked.

Almiron and Zaha both avoided a yellow card for the incident but another referee, on a different day, could have opted to put the Newcastle man in the book. That topless celebration would have got Almiron in real trouble if that had been the case...

Bruno wants more

Bruno Guimaraes already enjoys a special relationship with Newcastle fans. But the Brazilian wanted a little bit more from the St. James' Park fanbase at one point this evening.

As the hour-mark passed, the mercurial midfielder looped the ball over Joachim Andersen in the middle of the park, brought it under control and was bundled to the ground in the process. The fans in turn began their usual 'Bruno, Bruno' chant.

But Guimaraes stood up and waved his arms up as if to tell supporters 'let's pick this atmosphere up'. Fans responded accordingly and the volume picked up instantly at a time where Newcastle were slightly under the cosh.

Staveley's full-time gesture

Amanda Staveley and her husband Mehrdad Ghodoussi were joined by club chairman Yasir Al-Rumayyan at St. James' Park last night. But after watching the game in the director's box, she made her way to the pitch at full-time.

As the Newcastle players headed towards the tunnel, they were greeted by the club chief and her husband Mehrdad Ghodoussi. The owners then fancied a kick-about of their own on the hallowed turf.

Fans stood behind the dugout noticed Staveley on the pitch and proceeded to shout her name. The owner duly obliged with a wave and a huge grin back at them.
