Adelaide United boss Carl Veart says he will continue to restrict Mohamed Toure to cameo appearances after his crucial second-half goal helped propel them to an A-League Men win over Perth Glory.
United wrecked Perth's return to HBF Park after nearly four months on the road with goals from Hiroshi Ibusuki and Toure either side of the break securing a 2-1 win.
Toure was brought on from the bench and for the second time in his last four games he contributed a crucial goal.
The 17-year-old's qualities are obvious but Veart said he wasn't tempted to start him and wanted to keep the forward under wraps for later in games.
"He hasn't turned 18 yet so he's still a young player," Veart said.
"He still struggles to play more than 45 minutes. He doesn't have the conditioning yet to play at this level for longer than that.
"We want him to play direct because when he does he's very difficult to handle.
"That's best for us at the moment, because if I'm an (opposing) defender seeing him come on for the last 35 minutes I'd be asking my coach to take me off."
Adelaide cemented their hold on third spot, but for Perth there is little to sing about after they returned to Western Australia.
Shorn of creativity and penetration, Richard Garcia's side only got one back when Bruno Fornaroli slotted a late penalty.
They conceded their first when Jonathan Aspropotamitis allowed Ibusuki to outjump him at a corner late in the first half before Toure was allowed too much room to breakaway down the right.
"Everybody has to pull their weight and commit and start to take chances," Garcia said.
"We can't concede two simple goals, they were so simple today. It's not good enough.
"Collectively our work is fantastic, but it's as individuals that's costing us. We speak about standards, when it's your time to mark at a corner your man doesn't score.
"The timing of the corner and the goal is game management. That's a collective. Once that happens we need to be accountable."
Garcia said goalkeeper Liam Reddy was facing a lengthy stint on the sideline after he didn't return in the second half.
"He pulled his hip flexor," Garcia said. "It's a serious one, he said he couldn't continue."
