Ally McCoist was left reeling at Rangers' defensive display against Ajax as he labelled the two of the three first half goals conceded in the Champions League Group A clash as 'horrendous.'
The Light Blues hero was in the BT Sport studio on pundit duty alongside Kenny Miller and Darrell Currie as they assessed the first half performance from Giovanni van Bronckhorst's men. It was pointed out that the majority of the starting team played in the Europa League Final last season with McCoist stating 'you'd never have known'.
The Ibrox legend then went on to slam the lack of spirit, fight and belief in a passionate analysis as he reiterated the importance of losing the likes of Leon Balogun, Joe Aribo and Calvin Bassey from a defensive point of view as well as talented individuals. It was the last thing Rangers would have wanted and needed after the weekend hammering by Celtic as they lost three first half goals to the Dutch giants on their return to the Champions League big stage.

Speaking on BT Sport, he said: "You'd never have known Darrell [Currie]. That's really, really poor. There is no spirit and it doesn't look like there is any fight. There is certainly a lack of belief if no belief at all. Two of the three goals defensively have been horrendous.
"Sands has got to attack it. Goldson is in front of him. Alvarez actually walks onto Sands and then comes off him. The problem is - and I keep harping on about it - you lose Balogun, Aribo and Bassey. You lose three good players but you lose a real physicality in your team. You lose defensive strength at set plays.
"You've only got one player looking at that Rangers team and he's not been great at it and that is Goldson who looks capable of winning a defensive header.
"In the modern game, particularly at set plays, that is a terrible goal to lose. Sometimes at a set play someone will get a run on you, get a flick and header and beat you to the ball. A free header like that, and it is not the first time and nobody on the post."
