Rangers icon Ally McCoist wants Alfredo Morelos back at Ibrox as quickly as possible amid concerns over his fitness.
The 25-year-old was absent for Colombia's 3-0 win over Bolivia as he deals with a "muscle overload" while on international duty.
Morelos is the man who makes Rangers tick and the Premiership champions have a monumental showdown with leaders Celtic lying in wait next Sunday.
And McCoist believes Morelos must head back to Glasgow if there is a concerns continue in the coming days.
Speaking to Football Scotland, he said: “I noticed he wasn’t in the squad. His recent form has been excellent for Rangers, particularly in Europe.
"But generally speaking, he hasn’t been playing in the national team and I thought initially that was the reason he hadn’t been picked.
“Then I read it was an injury concern. Call me old fashioned but if that’s the case, I’d have him on the first flight back to have a look at him and assess him.
“But I don’t know how it works these days with international players - they can sometimes go AWOL you know!”
Morelos are set to face Venezuela in their final Copa America qualifier on Wednesday with one report in Colombia stating El Bufalo will be assessed before that clash.
