The Karnataka Government on Wednesday issued an order to increase the annual ‘tasthik’ (honorary) allowance from ₹48,000 to ₹60,000 to priests of ‘C’ grade Hindu temples. Priests of ‘C’ grade temples had submitted a petition to the Government seeking an increase in the honorary allowances.
Minister for Muzrai, Haj and Wakf Shashikala Jolle said the Government hiked the allowance in the wake of an increase in the prices of essential commodities and puja items. The increase would come into effect from this financial year (2022-23), Ms. Jolle said.
