Thailand has seen increasing adoption of vended laundry services across Southeast Asia, making it one of the important markets for Alliance Laundry Systems' (ALS) in Southeast Asia and the next stage of regional expansion.
In 2026, ALS is a global provider of commercial laundry equipment. Its market share varies by region, with about 70% in Southeast Asia and 69% in Thailand*. Globally, the company operates in more than 150 countries.
Supported by its initial public offering (IPO) in 2025, ALS continues to develop laundromat technologies through research and development to improve speed, capacity and quality, and support customers’ demand worldwide, particularly in Thailand and other Southeast Asian markets.
"The strongest growth in Thailand and everywhere around the world is occurring in the vended laundry segment, including self-service laundromats and shared laundry rooms within residential developments," said Mr. Mike Schoeb, Chief Executive Officer of Alliance Laundry Systems (ALS).
Highlight Commercial Laundry Trends
Over the past 10 years, several factors have contributed to the growth of the commercial laundry industry, including longer rainy seasons associated with climate change, making outdoor drying less reliable, while continued urbanisation in Bangkok and other major provinces has created further opportunities for both the company and investors.
Thailand's property sector, particularly the super-luxury residential segment, continues to expand, with premium amenities and services becoming key selling points.
One of the emerging businesses driven by the silver economy, including senior living facilities, nursing homes and wellness hospitality, also may create demand for professional laundry solutions.
"These facilities depend on products that were designed for professional daily use. Clean linen is mission-critical, making them an ideal application for our products," Mr. Schoeb added.
From his perspective, ALS sees opportunities in providing consumers with larger laundry facilities, higher-capacity machines and more convenient locations.
"Our business is about giving people back their time. That is why you often see customers queuing to use professional laundry equipment—it allows them to finish their washing quickly and spend more time doing the things they enjoy."
Growth Advancement
Digital technology remains a priority across international markets, with new innovations designed to help local business partners grow.
New features include cashless payment systems, app-based wallets and marketing tools such as dynamic pricing and promotional discounts to attract customers during quieter weekdays.
"Investors increasingly operate multiple laundry stores rather than just one," Mr. Schoeb said. "They need connected machines that allow them to monitor performance remotely, manage maintenance, adjust pricing and oversee multiple locations simultaneously."
These functions may help operators manage pricing during busy or quieter weekdays, similar to the dynamic pricing model used by ride-hailing platforms. Such capabilities could help improve operational efficiency.
"Reliability is the most important factor for our business partners," noted the ALS Chief Executive Officer. “One of our innovations is the lint filter which is to prevent a lint issue that can lead to lower efficiency in a dryer machine and can cause safety issues. This feature may sound simple but requires a lot of engineering expertise, testing, and it is very complicated.”
While the company is recognised for the durability of its products, engineering expertise and extensive laboratory testing, alongside its dedicated engineering support teams, predictive maintenance represents ALS's next technological milestone.
"The deployment of AI and machine learning may help operators plan to schedule maintenance proactively and support service continuity, reduce downtime and improve service quality."
Better Resource and Operational Efficient
Resource efficiency has become an important factor for businesses. Particularly in Southeast Asia, better operational efficiency has become increasingly important in maintaining long-term business credibility.
"Sustainability has always been central to commercial laundry because energy and water consumption directly affect operating costs. ALS products and research were designed to support reduced water and energy used under defined operating conditions."
Environmental performance is embedded throughout the company's operations rather than treated as a separate initiative. The company's investments also extend to sustainable manufacturing through water recycling, solar energy, electric vehicles (EVs), environmentally responsible packaging and more sustainable logistics.
New Business Confidence
Business growth opportunities are also increasing across other Southeast Asian countries, where market competition remains relatively low, providing additional expansion potential for ALS and its partners.
As a major player with an established presence in Southeast Asia, the ALS President reaffirmed that although pricing competition continues to intensify, the company's engineering expertise, product quality and reliability remain its key strengths.
"Operators may benefit from equipment durability and service support that can help manage lifecycle costs, thanks to the durability of our products and the reliability of our professionally trained service teams. With our own manufacturing facilities in Thailand, we are also able to support local service responsiveness and after-sales support, based on our local arrangements."
With a heritage dating back to 1908, ALS considers its talented workforce to be one of the company's greatest assets.
“As the business continues to expand globally, developing future leaders and ensuring new employees embrace the company's core values will remain central to maintaining its reputation for quality and reliability beyond customer expectation.” Mr. Schoeb said.
