A TEENAGER on a terror charge after he dressed in tactical gear, armed himself and walked through Newcastle's Civic precinct - allegedly with a plan to kill a local MP - will face court again in October.

Jordan Patten, 19, briefly appeared in Newcastle Local Court via audio-visual link from custody on Wednesday morning.

The court heard that the brief of evidence had been compiled and an adjournment was required for a charge certificate to be written.

Magistrate Robert Stone set Mr Patten's next court date as October 16.

He has not yet been required to enter a plea to one count of planning or preparing a terrorist act.

Patten allegedly had these weapons.

Mr Patten was dramatically arrested at Honeysuckle about 12.30pm on June 26 - allegedly armed with a knife, and wearing tactical clothing. He had also been allegedly live streaming online.

The court previously heard police are accusing Mr Patten of going to Labor Newcastle MP Tim Crakanthorp's office with "intent to kill" him.

He then allegedly went to Newcastle Museum, where brave staff told him to leave.

As the Herald previously reported, police also became aware of the existence of a document, understood to be a 250-page manifesto, that had been circulated to several public figures and media outlets.

Specialist police from the Joint Counter Terrorism Team were called in to help investigate the alleged incident.
