Accused Bondi Beach shooter Naveed Akram is set to face 19 new charges over his alleged role in Australia’s deadliest terror attack.
On December 14, Akram, alongside his father, 50-year-old Sajid Akram, allegedly opened fire on the Chanukah by the Sea celebration taking place on Bondi Beach.
The alleged act resulted in the deaths of 14 people, including a Holocaust survivor and a 10-year-old girl, and left multiple people injured.
While the elder Akram was shot and killed by police during the attack, Naveed was arrested and charged with 59 offences days after the attack occurred and is now being held at Goulburn’s supermax prison.

The 59 charges included 15 counts of murder, 40 counts of attempted murder, and terrorism.
Now, according to The Australian, the accused shooter is set to face 19 new charges.
Per the publication, 10 of the new charges against Akram included shooting with intent to murder, three for wounding with the intent to murder, and six for discharging a firearm with the intent to resist arrest.
The slew of fresh charges were listed by the courts on Wednesday, but have yet to be served by the police.
Akram has yet to enter a plea deal regarding any of the charges laid against him.

Speaking to reporters outside of Sydney’s Downing Centre Local Court on Wednesday, Akram’s lawyer Leoni Gittani said the alleged shooter’s team “haven’t been served with any new court attendance notices or anything”.
“Things like this happen in criminal matters. It’s a big matter and a long road ahead,” Ginatti said, per The Australian.
“These things don’t come as a surprise, if I can answer it in that way. These charges, once they’re filed, we’ll deal with them at that point.”
The new charges come after Akram failed in a bid to keep details about his family — including their names, addresses, schools and workplaces — suppressed for 40 years, despite arguing the information could put them at risk.
While dismissing Akram’s request, Judge Hugh Donnelly said supression orders “should only be made in exceptional circumstances”, and that Akram’s was “not an exceptional case”.
