Allan McGregor overcome with raw Rangers emotion as man of few words left on verge of tears

Allan McGregor choked back tears as he bid an emotional to Ibrox and admitted he was RAGING at conceding a last-gasp equaliser in his final Rangers appearance at his spiritual home.

The 41-year-old was one of five players who the club announced would be departing at the end of the season and it was the end of his second spell at the Light Blues, spanning 16 years. But he couldn’t bow out with a win as Garang Kuol snatched a late equaliser for Hearts in a 2-2 draw. McGregor, Alfredo Morelos, Ryan Kent, Filip Helander and Scott Arfield were all given a guard of honour by their team-mates as they took the applause of the fans.

And McGregor told Sky Sports: “I’m feeling emotional. I’m actually raging about the goal to be honest, that’s in my head. But I’m emotional. Last game here. I’ve got a lot of great memories so I’ve got to take that away with me. There’s too many (memories), it’s an amazing club and I just love the place. l'll miss it. The atmosphere here, the fans are amazing. They stand by you through the good and bad times. It’s just a fantastic place. What do I want to do next? I want to go and get a shower!”

McGregor’s former team-mate Kris Boyd was in the Sky Sports studio and said: “For Allan McGregor, he’s been an unbelievable servant. People of my generation will probably say that Allan McGregor is the best goalkeeper that’s every played with Rangers and the generation before will say it’s Andy Goram. I don’t see much between them. Two iconic goalkeepers. You look at Allan and he’s someone everything things is the class clown but he was first in and last away in training. He’s hard working and dedicated and he’s had an unbelievable football career and he can walk out with his head held high.”
