PRAYAGRAJ: The Allahabad high court has directed the Uttar Pradesh government to take action against the officials allegedly involved in siphoning of Rs 100 crore government money in the name of land acquisition compensation with regard to land in Dadri tehsil of Greater Noida.

The court further directed the state government to submit the investigation report in the case within two months.

Hearing a petition filed by Sach Sewa Samiti, observed, “The allegation is that the award has been passed by the competent authority in collusion with those persons for providing the compensation of the gaon sabha land in the name of acquisition of the land in question.”

In the petition, filed by Sach Sewa Samiti, it is alleged that the compensation amounting to Rs 100 crore were passed by the erring officers in collusion with certain persons by which compensation for acquisition of land belonging to gaon sabha (village committee) were paid to private persons, though actually the land belonged to the gaon sabha.

The land acquisition was done in 2008 by presenting fake documents in the court. The state government counsel informed the court that a high-level inquiry is being conducted into the matter so at least two months’ time should be given.

Hence, the court fixed September 19, 2022as the next date of hearing in the case.
