To compare the passenger balloons that he regularly pilots over the Hunter Valley's rolling landscape to smaller, more agile competition balloons he flies solo, pilot Matt Scaife says the difference is something akin to driving a sports car instead of a bus.
Mr Scaife will travel to Poland next month to contest the Hot Air Balloon World Championships after winning the Australian Grand Prix in July.
