ALL Under One Banner (AUOB) organisers have announced the route for their annual march for independence in Edinburgh next month.
Organisers are encouraging independence supporters to gather earlier at Johnston Terrace on Saturday, September 5, as the main procession will leave at 12.30pm.
The Yes Bikers will be “bringing the thunder to the city” as they set off at 12.15pm at the roundabout at the top of Johnston Terrace/Lawnmarket.
Those taking part have been encouraged to bring banners, placards, megaphones, flags, pipes and drums, as previous AUOB rallies in the capital have seen thousands take to the streets to show their support for Scottish independence.
“We also ask everyone to dress appropriately for the day and bring water/non alcoholic drinks to keep them hydrated,” an AUOB told The National.
This year’s route will leave from Johnston Terrace, to Lawnmarket, then High Street, onto Canongate, to Horse Wynd, before finishing at the Scottish Parliament building.
Last year, thousands of Scottish independence supporters and anti-racism activists drowned out a small immigration protest outside the Holyrood parliament on the day of AUOB’s annual rally.
It was reported that last year’s rally was one of the largest Scottish independence marches for some time, with around 2500-3000 people waving Saltires and Yes flags, playing bagpipes and banging drums, who completely drowned out the anti-immigration protest.
AUOB had said before their Edinburgh rally that those joining would be demonstrating against the “perverted and inverted” use of the Scottish Saltire by anti-refugee groups, as well as calling for the Scottish people to have the right to decide their own future.
The march next month comes after AUOB brought independence supporters from across the country to Stirling.
Supporters decked out in Saltires and pro-independence messages marched from Stirling Old Bridge to Bannockburn Field on Saturday, June 20.
