“All turnovers are not created equal,” said ESPN’s Jalen Rose on a recent episode of the “Jalen and Jacoby” show that has the analyst and his semi-eponymous co-host David Jacoby talking about the Boston Celtics‘ Achilles heel in the 2022 postseason, particularly in their NBA Finals series against the Golden State Warriors.
“You know I have watched too much, played too much basketball,” he continued. “And it’s an obvious difference. That’s why I don’t love stats — I use them as a tool, not the toolbox.” For the Celtics. turnovers could spell the end of the 2022 title bid, if they cannot find a way to limit how often (and how) they are losing possession of the rock with such frequency against a team that is uniquely equipped to punish them for doing so.
