BENGALURU: The first half of this year has sounded a death knell for aquatic life in many Bengaluru lakes. The city has witnessed the highest number of fishkill incidents in a calendar year in 2022, as per a report by ActionAid Association (India) that was submitted to Karnataka State Pollution Control Board on Monday.
The researchers’ team noted there were 32 such incidents between 2017 and 2022. Even though they reduced considerably from 2019 to 2021, the number shot up alarmingly this year, reaching an all-time high of eight within six months, which reflects the deteriorating quality of water in lakes around Bengaluru.
