It's always a good idea to plan ahead for school half terms and holidays - and they vary across the border. Travel and holidays can be more expensive during official school holiday dates.
With that in mind here are half term dates for Wales and those in England, Scotland and Northern Ireland For schools in Wales half term runs from Monday October 31 to Friday November 4, but individual schools may tag on extra inset days to half term so people are advised to check.
In England half term runs from Monday October 24 to Friday October 28. Half term in Northern Ireland runs from October 31 to November 1 and in Scotland, where schools go back in August not September, what is known as the mid term break varies in different areas.
