Several sites across the North East are taking part in a week of special offers next month to give families the chance to have a fun day out for less.
The National Lottery Open Week is back for 2023, giving lottery players the chance to get free entry or other special offers at a range of venues simply by presenting a lottery ticket or scratch card. Running from March 18-26, anyone who has a lottery ticket, either physical or digital, can bring it to participating venues across the country.
The National Trust, English Heritage, and Tyne & Wear Archives and Museums are among the organisations taking part this year with special offers such as free entry, gift shop discounts and guided tours at a range of their venues. Here's the full list of participating North East sites and what each one is offering, according to the National Lottery website.

Souter Lighthouse and The Leas, Sunderland - Present your lottery ticket or scratch card at reception for free entry from March 18-26. One ticket = one adult entry.
Gibside, Gateshead - Present your lottery ticket or scratch card at reception for free entry from March 18-26. One ticket = one adult entry.
Wallington, Morpeth - Present your lottery ticket or scratch card at reception for free entry from March 18-26. One ticket = one adult entry.
Seaton Delaval Hall, Northumberland - Present your lottery ticket or scratch card at reception for free entry from March 18-9 and 22-26. One ticket = one adult entry.
Bailiffgate Museum & Gallery, Alnwick - Free entry on March 19. offer redeemable by: two adults and any accompanying children under 16 years old.

Discovery Museum, Newcastle - Free tours of North East Inventors Gallery on March 20, D-Day and the 13th/18th Hussars Gallery on March 21, Tyne & Wear Archives on March 22, Costume Store on March 23, and Tyneside Challenge Gallery on March 24. Hatton Gallery, Newcastle - Free tour of Wilhelmina Barns-Graham: Paths to Abstraction exhibition on March 21. Offer redeemable by a group of up to three people per lottery ticket, advance booking is required. (Entry to the main gallery is always free.)
Shipley Art Gallery, Gateshead - Free tour of Arts and Craft Collection on March 22. Offer redeemable by up to two people per lottery ticket, booking in advance is required. (Entry to the main gallery is always free.)

Stephenson Steam Railway, North Shields - Free workshop tours on March 25. Offer redeemable by a group of up to four people per lottery ticket. Booking in advance is required. (Entry to the museum is always free).

Berwick Barracks - Free entry on March 25-26. One lottery ticket = free entry for one adult and up to two children, booking in advance not required. Free Peek at the Project tours on March 25-26. Booking tours in advance is required.
Segedunum Roman Fort, Newcastle - Free entry on March 24-25, redeemable by a group of up to four people per lottery ticket or scratch card. Free introductory talk on March 18 and 20-25, redeemable by up to two people per ticket. Advance booking not required.

Laing Art Gallery, Newcastle - 20% discount on Visions of Ancient Egypt exhibition admission from March 18-26. Maximum of two discounts per lottery ticket or scratchcard, booking in advance is not required. Admission to the main gallery is always free.
Sunderland Museum & Winter Gardens - 10% off in the gift shop on March 18 and 20-25. Admission to the main museum and gardens is always free.
National Glass Centre, Sunderland - 10% off in the gift shop on March 18-26. Admission to the centre is always free.
Arts Centre Washington - 10% off in the gift shop on March 18 and 21-25.
Gateshead Older People's Assembly - Free Tai Chi class on March 21. One lottery ticket = free class for one adult. Choose from two classes at 10.30am or 11.45am - booking in advance is not required.
