Mobile speed cameras have been set up in Leeds in a bid to prevent accidents.
Mobile speed enforcement is provided by the West Yorkshire Police Camera Enforcement Unit on behalf of West Yorkshire Safety Camera Partnership. Core camera sites generally have a high incidence of both casualties and speeding vehicles, but analysis indicates that frequent mobile enforcement is the most advantageous method for reducing casualties and speed.
The cameras are set up in "known casualty zones" to try to keep speeds down on dangerous roads. The equipment uses a laser which operates in different weather conditions to determine speeds.
