Gathering for a Christmas lights switch-on is a much-loved tradition that brings people from the local area together.
This year, amongst the very first Christmas displays to go live, was the one at Edinburgh's retail hotspot, St James Quarter, which was switched on yesterday, November 10.
However, it is only the beginning of a series of similar events that will be happening across the capital in the run-up to the most magical celebration of the year.
