Whether it’s listening to Breakfast with Greg James, Radio 1’s Future Sounds with Clara Amfo or Radio 1’s Dance Party with Danny Howard, BBC Radio 1 listeners often have their favourite shows.

However, the station has recently had a huge shake-up with some of its most notable presenters calling it quits.

And, a year ago on July 30, 2021, Radio 1 DJ Annie Mac played her final evening show after 17 years with the BBC.

Many are wondering which presenters have now left and who will be replacing them in the rota shake-up.

Here’s everything you need to know.

All the DJs leaving BBC Radio 1 in 2022

In 2022, so far, DJ Scott Mills and his co-host Chris Stark are leaving BBC Radio 1. While Mills is moving to BBC Radio 2, Stark will be leaving the BBC to join Global media company.

He’ll now be presenting the Capital Breakfast Show on Capital FM with Roman Kemp.

Meanwhile, long-standing BBC DJ Scott Mills will be taking over the afternoon show slot from Steve Wright.

He has worked on Radio 1 for almost 24 years, having joined the station in October 1998 where he presented the early breakfast show from 4am to 7am.

Katie Thistleton will also be hosting her own weekend shows from 10.30am to 1pm on Fridays and Saturdays, from Friday, September 9, 2022.

Nat O’Leary will be joining BBC Radio 1 to host the brand new show Radio 1 00s every Sunday from 11am to 1pm, from Sunday, September 11, 2022.

Radio 1 will also be announcing who will be taking over from Mills on The Official Chart show will be in the coming weeks, too.

Currently, no other Radio 1 presenters have announced that they are leaving the station. However, newsreader Roisin Hastie and DJ Charlie Hedges have both recently announced that they are pregnant.

Both will be absent from the station during their maternity leave, but will return after.

Who will be replacing DJ Scott Mills and Chris Stark on BBC Radio 1?

Filling the shoes of Scott Mills and Chris Stark will be Dean McCullough and Vicky Hawkesworth.

The pair will be taking over Scott Mills’ usual weekday afternoon slot, with McCullough having previously presented his weekend morning show.

The presenter said: “Being given the opportunity to launch a brand new daytime show on Radio 1 with the most talented production team and co-host is a full-on dream come true.”

Meanwhile, Hawkesworth said: “In all honesty, I don’t think there are words that can live up to how incredibly excited I am. I am quite literally about to live my dream and I can’t wait to get going.”

The pair will be part of the BBC’s Across The UK move, which will see the show leave London and broadcast from Salford in Greater Manchester.
