All the details of Eddie Nketiah’s new contract as striker 'prepares' to sign Arsenal deal

Eddie Nketiah looks set to sign a new deal at Arsenal, according to the Daily Mail. It comes as the forward was set to leave the club as a free agent this summer.

The youngster has impressed late into the season, finding a flurry of goals with several Premier League starts. The 22-year-old made 21 league appearances, scoring five goals and assisting once.

Discussing the future of the striker, Mikel Arteta said: "When you see Eddie train in the way he trains, he doesn't even need to play. You know that you have a player there that is going to help you, and he's done that. Look at his numbers with the amount of games that he's played, it's terrific.

"It's been decided [his contract situation], but it's very difficult to communicate it, what they deserve is to have a little bit of what they had today. But to do it earlier, one way or the other, with three situations like that is very, very awkward, and it could affect the team."

The Spaniard now has the chance to add to his squad over the summer, with the forward areas believed to be a priority. That is due to a mixture of Alexandre Lacazette being set to leave, with his contract expiring, and the lack of a consistent goal-scoring threat all campaign.

However, it seems as though Nketiah will be set to stay at the club in the near future. According to the Daily Mail, the Hale End academy graduate is closing in on a new contract that will see him beyond this summer.

The report claims that the details included a five-year deal that would take him until 2027 at the club with a wage of £100k-a-week. There is also a £5million bonus that will be paid out across the deal, potentially saving the Gunners millions in signing another striker.

The deal is yet to be signed, but the new advancements appear promising for the forward to stay at the club.
