The road to Dota 2 The International 2026 has closed. Valve has already locked seven directly invited teams, while nine squads have made their way through the regional qualifiers.

Valve awarded seven direct invitations for TI 2026 based on teams’ performances in the Dota 2 2025-26 competitive season so far. Unlike previous iterations, only seven teams received direct invites instead of eight, leaving an extra slot to be earned through qualifiers.
There are no surprises here in terms of direct invites. Falcons are the defending TI champions and have remained a powerhouse this season, while Liquid and 1w (formerly Tundra) are still among the most consistent teams in the world. Aurora and Yandex have won tier-one events, while Xtreme Gaming put together strong campaigns across multiple tournaments.

Teams to watch out for in TI 2026 qualifiers
The biggest change this year is the new unified Europe qualifier, which combines Eastern and Western Europe into a single region, hence it gets nearly half of all qualifier spots with four. Team Spirit, PARIVISION (competing as TEAM VISION), NAVI, Nigma Galaxy, Virtus.pro, and MOUZ are expected to battle for four available spots.
On paper, Spirit and PARIVISION look like favorites, but nothing is guaranteed in a stacked European bracket. Many fans including myself expected at least one of them to receive an automatic berth after strong results this season, but both will now have to earn their place through qualifiers. Roster changes and inconsistent results earlier in the year might have played a part on why they were left out.
In China, Vici Gaming looks to be the strongest squad, having acquired Team Tidebound led by TI6 winners Bach (Faith_Bian) and y`. REKONIX and OG are seen as the frontrunners in Southeast Asia, while LGD Gaming (former HEROIC) and GamerLegion are projected to come out on top in the South America and North America qualifiers, respectively.
