All Star Musicals: Why was John Barrowman dropped from Dancing On Ice as he returns to prime-time TV?

Former Dancing On Ice judge John Barrowman is back presenting prime-time TV as he hosts All Star Musicals on ITV. He was axed and missing from the 2022 series of Dancing On Ice after he admitted to sexual misconduct.

John first appeared as a judge on Dancing On Ice in 2019 and took part in the show himself as a contestant in 2006. He has been accused of exposing himself to his former colleagues while working for the BBC on Doctor Who and the spin-off Torchwood.

John described his actions as "tomfoolery" when he apologised and said he did not recall any specific incidents. He also said the behaviour was "high-spirited" and not sexual in nature.

The Guardian reported that several people on the Doctor Who set claimed to have seen the actor exposing himself. In 2008 John apologised for a similar incident when he pulled his trousers down during a BBC Radio One interview.

During an appearance on Lorraine in November 2021 he said that the exposing would "not happen again" and told Lorriane that leaving Dancing On Ice was not because of the claims. He said it was because he was going to be presenting All Star Musicals.

In a statement when John was dropped from Dancing On Ice ITV said: “We thank John Barrowman for two brilliant years on the Dancing On Ice panel and are pleased to be working with him again as host of the forthcoming All Star Musicals specials.”

John was replaced on Dancing On Ice by former Strictly Come Dancing professional Oti Mabuse, who has since left Strictly Come Dancing and will be hosting her own new show on ITV. All Star Musicals begins on ITV at 7.30pm on Sunday, April, 3 and John will be hosting as celebrities including Jacqueline Jossa and Alex Beresford will be performing hits from musicals.
